Police Blotter: Drivers Nearly Hit Squad Cars in Two Separate Incidents

Saturday, March 26

Driver almost hits squad car

Greta Reklaityte, 18, of the 2600 block of Burr Ridge Court in Woodridge, was arrested around 2:55 a.m. on the 8900 block of Lemont Road, police said. Officers said Reklaityte nearly hit their squad car as she exited Interstate 55 onto Lemont Road. They said they then saw her drive erratically before speeding through a yellow light. Reklaityte was charged with driving under the influence, consumption of alcohol by a minor, improper lane usage and disobeying a red light, according to the report.

Sour situation

Vandals threw oranges at a home on the 3300 block of Drover between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., police said. The oranges didn’t cause any damage.

Friday, March 25

Another driver almost hits squad car

John B. Eck, 46, of the 600 block of 71stStreet, was arrested around 11:50 p.m. on the 7500 block of Cass Avenue, police said. Officers said Eck nearly hit their car after he pulled out of the Heritage Liquors parking lot. Eck was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count of failure to stop at a sidewalk while emerging from a driveway, according to the report. 

BlackBerry stolen from AT&T

A thief stole a BlackBerry from a sales rack in the AT&T store on 75th Street sometime between 6 and 6:55 p.m., police said. The phone is worth about $600.

Fourteen years bad luck

Vandals damaged the driver’s side mirrors on two cars parked on the 1100 block of Hinswood, police said. In both incidents, the mirror was found on the ground, broken into pieces, according to the report.

Wednesday, March 23

Computer stolen from Walmart

A man stole a computer worth more than $800 from the 75th Street Walmart around 8 p.m., police said. The man left set off an alarm when he left the store through a door in the auto center, according to the report.

March 21

Apartment burglary

A burglar stole a laptop, wireless modem and iPad from an apartment on the 8300 block of Woodland between 8:15 a.m. and 6:20 p.m., police said. It’s unclear how the thief entered the apartment, but the entry did not appear to be forced, according to the report.
