Egging, toilet papering citation

A 17-year-old Darien girl was cited with vandalism after egging and throwing toilet paper at a home on the 7900 block of Sawyer about 12:15 a.m., said.

Thursday, Sept. 22

Battery charges

John P. Bitakis, 39, of the 7500 block of Townsend Boulevard, Plainfield, was arrested about 1:50 a.m. on the 6700 block of High Road on a charge of battery after a man was hit in the face, according to the report. He was given an Oct. 25 court date.

Retail theft

William R. Hunt, 33, of the 1100 block of Garfield, Hobart, Ind., was arrested about 6:35 p.m., at the 75th Street Home Depot, police said. Hunt paid for several items at the cash register, but then left the store with a Milwaukee M18 battery, a Bosch grout removal blade and two Dremel grout removal blades hidden in his pants. Police charged him with retail theft and gave him an Oct. 25 court date.

DUI on Lemont Road

Jose J. Garcia, 52, of the 14700 block of Fox Hollow Boulevard, Lemont, was arrested about 12:05 a.m. on the 8800 block of Lemont Road, police said. Officers said they saw him swerving between lanes while traveling 53 mph in a 40 mph zone. When they stopped him, Garcia had red, glassy eyes, and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol, according to the report. His blood-alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit, police said. He was charged with one count of driving under the influence – over .08, one count driving under the influence – physical control, speeding and improper lane use, and given an Oct. 25 court date, police said.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

Tire vandalism

Vandals broke the stem off the air valve and scratched the aluminum wheel of the front passenger-side tire of a Nissan sport utility vehicle parked in a driveway on the 1000 block of Tamarack, police said. The incident caused about $300 in damage.

Monday, Sept. 19

Stolen scooters

Three electric scooters were taken overnight from an open garage on the 8900 block of Kilkenny Drive, police said. The scooters were worth about $700.
