Police Blotter: DUIs; Underage Possession of Alcohol; Retail Theft

Saturday, June 18

Underage possession of alcohol

Two minors were arrested near the intersection of 75thand Plainfield and charged with illegal possession of alcohol around 9:10 p.m., police said. Michael J. Zuffa, 20, of the 11900 block of South Laramie in Alsip, was pulled over after making an illegal turn, police said. He told police he had alcohol in his car, according to the report. Police said his passenger, Eric J. Bauer, 18, of the 12000 block of South 69thStreet in Palos Heights, had been drinking. Both men were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, according to the report.

Early morning DUI near 103rdand Lemont

Danielle Jibaja, 21, of the 300 block of Freehauf Street in Lemont, was arrested around 4 a.m. near 103rdand Lemont Road, police said. Police clocked her speeding 68 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to the report. When they stopped her, they said her breath smelled slightly of alcohol, but she refused to take a Breathalyzer test. Police charged her with driving under the influence and gave her a July 19 court date.

DUI near South Frontage and Sokol

Vic T. Marcinkiewicz, 51, of the 9400 block of Waterfall Glen Boulevard, was arrested around 4 p.m. near the intersection of South Frontage Road and Sokol Court, police said. Police stopped Marcinkiewicz on an existing warrant and found an open container of alcohol behind the drivers seat, according to the report. His breath smelled strongly of alcohol, and a Breathalyzer test recorded his alcohol levels at 1 1/2 times the legal limit, police said. He was charged with aggravated DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and on the outstanding warrant, police said.

Theft from Walmart

Karen M. Hampe, 48, of the 100 block of Second Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. at the 75thStreet Walmart, police said. Walmart security stopped her after seeing her take several unidentified items past the last cash register, according to the report. She said that she “couldn’t be held” and drove away in her car, police said. Police said they pulled her over and charged her with retail theft, driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured vehicle.
