Sunday, Feb. 12

Car driven into ditch

Leon C. Hardy, 29, of the 200 block of Janes in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of North Frontage Road and Cass Avenue, said. Hardy drove his car into a ditch near the intersection, according to the report. Officers said he was staggering and unsteady on his feet, and that he smelled moderately of alcohol when he spoke. He told police he had been drinking and a Breathalyzer test recorded blood alcohol levels more than .08. Hardy was charged with DUI – physical control, DUI – over .08 and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was given a March 13 court date in Wheaton.

Friday, Feb. 10

Shoplifting at Walgreens

Margaret A. Goocher, 24, of the 200 block of Galewood Drive, was arrested around 6:30 a.m. at the Walgreens at 7516 Cass Avenue, police said. Goocher reportedly walked out of the store with a box of press-on nails, sleeping pills, two pairs of socks, two hats and two bottles of Hello Kitty perfume, police said. The total value of the items was $51.75, according to the report. Goocher was charge with retail theft and possession of drug equipment.

Broken window

Vandals threw a landscaping brick through a garage door window overnight at a home in the 1700 block of Gigi, police said. The brick caused about $100 in damage.

Thursday, Feb. 9

DUI at Lemont and Woodmere

Traci M. Kennard, 36, of the 7000 block of Exner, was arrested around 2:25 a.m. near the intersection of Lemont and Woodmere, police said. Officers said they pulled her over for an equipment violation and noticed she had bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on her breath. After Kennard failed field sobriety tests, she held her arms against her body and tried to walk away from the officers, police said. She told police she had drank beer and taken prescription medications, according to the report. Police took her to the hospital after she complained of an injury, and the hospital released her back to the police. She took a chemical test, the results of which are not yet available. Kennard was charged with DUI – alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, resisting/obstructing a police officer and driving with one headlight.

Sunday, Feb. 5

Woman hits parked car

Edita Cicenas, 41, of the 700 block of Inland Creek in Naperville, was arrested around 4:45 p.m. in a parking lot at 1536 Lakeview in Darien, police said. Cicenas hit a parked car in the lot while her son was a passenger in her car, police said. When officers questioned her, her speech was slow and slurred, and she had trouble walking, according to the report. She told police she had taken “herbal pills,” but it is unclear what they were, police said. Officers administered a drug test, the results of which are not yet available. She was charged with DUI – drugs and endangering the life or health of a child, and given a March 13 court date.
