Police Blotter: Lost Keys Open Up Trouble

Sunday, Feb. 13

Picky pickpocket

Three jackets were taken from behind a booth around 5:30 p.m. at Chuck E. Cheese’s on Cass Avenue, police said. The first jacket had $600 and an LG cell phone in its pocket. The other two jackets were empty. Later in the evening, the jackets were found in the back of the restaurant. The cash was gone, but the cell phone was still in the pocket.

Friday, Feb. 11

Movie night

A man took a bunch of DVDs from a shelf at the 75thStreet Walmart around 5:30 p.m. police said. Store security lost him in the store and couldn’t catch him. The store does not know exactly which DVDs he took.

THURSDAY, Feb. 10

Slippery slope

Tonario D. Kimmons, 21, of the 700 block of Kelly Drive in North Aurora, was arrested around 10:45 p.m. along South Frontage Road near Waterfall Glen, police said. Officers said they were helping Kimmons after his car slid off the road into the snow. Kimmons lost his car key while trying to move the car, police said. While the officers helped search for the key, they said they saw a pill bottle that contained marijuana in plain view in the car. Kimmons was charged with possession of cannabis and driving with a suspended license.

Tuesday, Feb. 8

Cannabis possession

Gabriel Torres, 19, of the 3700 block of S. Sumac Drive in Joliet, was arrested around 6:25 p.m. near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55, police said. Officers stopped Torres for a tinted window violation and said they smelled marijuana coming from the car. Officers said they searched the car with the help of the Lisle Police Department K-9 officer and found an unknown amount of marijuana and a pipe. Torres was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of paraphernalia and tinted windows.
