Police Blotter: Nasty Graffiti; Drug Possession; Mailbox Vandalism

Friday, July 8

Cannabis possession

Christopher L. Vizza, 34, of the 00 block of West 60th Street in Westmont, was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on the 8100 block of Cass Avenue, police said. Officers who responded to an accident smelled marijuana, according to the report. Vizza told police there was marijuana and a pipe inside a 12-pack of beer inside his trunk, police said. Police charged him with possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment, and gave him an Aug. 16 court date.

Vandalized mailboxes

Vandals did $450 worth of damage to a mailbox overnight on the 8700 block of Kentwood Court, police said.

Another mailbox, along with two Netflix DVDs, was damaged with a firecracker on the 7300 block of Leonard, police said. A neighbor saw two boys put the firecracker in the mailbox and ride away, according to the report.

Thursday, July 7

Car burglary

An iPhone charger was taken from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 7100 block of Summit, police said. The burglar also dumped the contents of the glove box on the front seat, according to the report. The charger was worth about $30.

Stolen Power Wheels

A purple Power Wheels Barbie Jeep was stolen overnight from the back patio of a home on the 7400 block of Brookbank, police said. The toy was worth about $270.

Wednesday, July 6

Garage door graffiti

Vandals spray-painted the words “HORE” and “HERPES” on the garage door of a home on the 7900 block of Knottingham Circle between 8 p.m. and 10:20 p.m., police said. The vandals also painted graffiti on the car parked in front of the home on the street, causing a total of more than $500 in damage.
