Car burglaries

A laptop and a cupful of change were taken from an unlocked SUV parked in the driveway of a home on the 1100 block of 79th Street sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, said. The items were worth about $3,000. The next night, about $5 in change was taken from an unlocked car parked in the driveway of a home parked on the 7800 block of Warwick, police said.

Sunday, Oct. 23

Disorderly conduct

Ivan S. Jovanovic, 35, of the 7400 block of Brookdale Drive, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. on the 7400 block of Brookdale, police said. Jovanovic got into an argument with his neighbor about noise levels, police said. He reportedly pushed open the door, nearly hitting his neighbor, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct with court dates pending.

Saturday, Oct. 22

Stolen bike

A black Sync BMX-style bike was taken from the driveway of a home on the 900 block of 69th Street sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., police said. The bike was worth $250.

Minor with tobacco

A Darien juvenile was arrested around 10:30 p.m. at Darien Community Park, police said. He told an officer he walked away from him because he had tobacco on him, police said. He was charged with possession of tobacco by a minor, according to the report.

Thursday, Oct. 20

False information

Tyree T. Johnson, 21, of the 6200 block of South Parkshore Court in Chicago, was arrested around 12:50 a.m. on the 8400 block of Lemont Road, police said. Johnson gave officers a fake name and birthday after they pulled him over for a traffic stop, according to the report. Cook County also had a warrant out for him for a probation violation, police said. Johnson was charged with driving without a valid license and disorderly conduct – false statements, according to the report. Police took him to DuPage County Jail.

Sunday, Oct. 16

$3,000 charged on stolen credit card

Credit cards from a wallet taken out of a woman’s purse at Brookhaven Marketplace were used to make more than $3,000 in purchases, police said. The wallet was stolen around 5:15 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 15

DUI near Pinehurst and Lakeview

Charles V. Cook, Jr., 21, of the 00 block of East 156th Street in Harvey, was arrested around 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of Pinehurst and Lakeview, police said. Police were called to the scene with a report of a car parked partially on the grass, according to the report. The officers said they found Cook asleep behind the wheel with a bottle of vodka in his hand. His eyes were red and glassy, and he smelled strongly of alcohol, according to the report. His blood alcohol levels were three times the legal limit, according to a Breathalyzer test. Police charged Cook with two counts of driving under the influence — one for blood alcohol levels more than .08 and one for actual physical control; parking where prohibited; and driving with a license expired less than one year. He was given a Nov. 15 court date.

Underage drinking

Two teens were cited for underage drinking around 9:15 p.m. on the 2200 block of Donegal, police said. Both boys admitted they had been drinking, and police released them to their parents.
