Police Blotter: One Home Burglary, Two Car Burglaries

Darien Police reports, March 15-20.

Sunday, March 20

Curfew violations

Three male juveniles, one from Darien and two from Bellwood, were arrested around 1:40 a.m. near the 7700 block of Williams, police said. They were cited for breaking curfew after police said they saw them cross Plainfield Road. The officers then drove them to the Darien home where they were spending the night, according to the report.

Broken window

Vandals threw two cans of Coca-Cola through the front window of a home on the 600 block of Glen Lane between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. Earlier this year, the same home reported four slashed tire on a car parked in the driveway, according to the report.

Saturday, March 19

Cannabis possession

Jeffrey J. Racki, 22, of the 00W100 block of Hillside Lane in Hinsdale, was arrested around 1:40 p.m. near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55, according to police reports. Police said they stopped Racki because he had an illegal cover on his license plate. Officers then smelled a strong marijuana odor coming from the car, according to the report. Racki turned the marijuana over to police and was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment, police said.

Cannabis possession

Ashley M. Kain, 23, of the 1200 block of Chapman Court, was arrested around 7:14 p.m. on the 7400 block of Brookdale, police said. A neighbor called police to complain about loud noise coming from a car, according to the report. Officers said they smelled marijuana and asked to search the car. They found marijuana, which Kain said belonged to her, according to the report. Kain was charged with possession of cannabis, police said.

DUI near Cass and I-55

Bradley J. Evers, 38, of the 2300 block of Carlow Drive, was arrested around 2:10 a.m. near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55, police said. Officers said they saw him driving partly on the shoulder while traveling 63 mph in a 45 mph zone. Evers was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage, police said.

Friday, March 18

Theft from Walmart

Anthony G. Pescatore, 18, of the 7100 block of South Washington Street, and a 17-year-old male from Downers Grove, were arrested around 5:45 p.m. at the 75thStreet Walmart, police said. The pair was seen taking golf balls and flashlights from the store, according to the report. Both men were charged with retail theft, police said.

Car burglary

A burglar entered a locked car parked along the 1000 block of Frontage Road by unknown means and took the car’s one-piece dashboard, which included all the gauges, police said. The loss is estimated at $300.

Hit and run

A woman’s car was struck by another car while parked in the 75thStreet TGI Friday’s lot between 8:30 and 9:45 p.m., police said. There are no suspects.

Thursday, March 17

Car burglary

A burglar smashed the rear driver’s side window of a car parked in The Patio restaurant’s lot on Route 83 between 12:45 and 2:55 p.m., police said. The only item taken was an empty black neoprene computer bag, according to the report. The total loss, including the damage to the window, is estimated at $280.

Wednesday, March 16

House burglary

A home on the 9000 block of Kearney was ransacked between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., police said. The suspects appeared to have forced open the front door and left the home with electronics, jewelry and money, according to the report. The total value of the items taken is about $11,000, police said.

Tuesday, March 15

Speeder flees police

Robert W. Hastings, 43, of the 1100 block of Burke Court in Naperville, was arrested around 12:25 a.m. near Interstate 355 and Boughton Road in Bolingbrook, police said. Police said radar tracked Hastings going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. They said they followed him and tried to stop him on I-55 at Cass Avenue, but he continued to Bolingbrook before pulling over. Hastings was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, and fleeing and eluding, according to the report.

Wallet stolen

A thief snatched a woman’s wallet from her purse at the 75thStreet Walmart around 7:30 p.m. while she stepped from her motorized wheelchair to reach a box of cereal, police said. The purse was sitting in a basket on the wheelchair, according to the report. The woman said her credit cards were used at several locations.
