Police Blotter: Parked and Reclined, Man Found With Drug Equipment

Darien police reports, Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.

THURSDAY, NOV. 1

Walmart Theft

Nichoas A. Soto, 28, of Willowbrook, was charged with retail theft after an incident at Walmart, 2189 75th St. Police say Soto stole numerous video games, and DVDs totaling $289.64, from the electronics section. He was issued a citation and awaits a court date.

Drug Equipment

Calvin S. Leal, 20, of Plainfield, was charged with possession of drug equipment. Police said they saw Leal's car parked in the 3000 block of Brewer, and the driver's seat was reclined. When Leal opened his car window, police said, a "strong smell of cannabis came from the vehicle." Police found a pipe and a grinder. Leal was arrested and given court dates.

Criminal Trespass

William J. Belle Jr., 49, of the 2400 block of Pheasant Street in Woodridge, was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle in the 1100 block of 69th Street. The victims of the burglary, who know Belle, told police they saw him in their car at 12:30 p.m.. He was given a Dec. 4 court date.
