Sunday, June 17

Veet Tobacco window shattered

Someone shattered, but didn’t break through, the glass in the front door of Veet Tobacco around 1:52 a.m., Darien police said. Nothing was missing and no one got inside, the owner said. The glass will cost at least $300 to replace.

Saturday, June 16

Stolen bench

Someone took an iron bench overnight from the front porch of a home on the 2200 block of Carlow, police said. The bench was worth about $125.

Pick-pocketing at Walmart

Someone took a woman’s wallet from her purse while she was shopping around 11:40 a.m. at the 75th Street Walmart, police said. The total loss was more than $300.

Friday, June 15

Car burglaries

Burglars broke out the rear passenger-side window and took a purse from the back seat of a car parked near the intersection of Elm and Sunrise between 6:45 and 8 p.m., police said. The total loss was about $1,300.

That same evening, police said a burglar broke out the driver’s side window of a car parked on the 100 block of 74th Street. The burglar took a purse from the floor before the front seat, for a total loss of $460.

Stolen table and chairs

Someone took two gray folding chairs and a folding table from a hallway in an apartment building on the 1100 block of Chalet, police said. The items were worth about $96.

Wednesday, June 13

Stop sign vandalism

Vandals painted over the words “four way” on a stop sign at the intersection of 71st and Exner, police said. The incident caused about $100 in damage.

House egged, toilet papered

Someone threw eggs and toilet paper at a house on the 8100 block of Sawyer, police said. The mess didn’t cause any permanent damage.

Tuesday, June 12

Damaged window

A window was damaged on the second story of a home on the 1900 block of Manning, police said. It’s unclear how the damage occurred. It will cost about $300 to repair.

Monday, June 11

Flaming mailbox

Vandals set a mailbox on fire sometime between 2 p.m. June 8 and 6:10 a.m. June 11 on the 9000 block of Kilkenny Drive, police said. The mailbox was worth about $100.

A waste of eggs

Vandals threw eggs at a car parked on the 500 block of 70th Street, police said. The eggs didn’t cause permanent damage.
