Sunday, April 10

BBs fired at home

Vandals shot BBs at a house on the 1100 block of Hinsbrook, damaging glass on a light in front of the home, as well as some of the house’s siding, police said. The BBs caused $350 of damage.

Saturday, April 9

DUI near North Frontage and Clarendon Hills Road

John O. Walcott, 23, of the 1600 block of Royal Oak Drive, was arrested around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of North Frontage and Clarendon Hills Road, police said. Officers said they saw Walcott drive erratically and crossing onto the shoulder of North Frontage Road. Walcott said he was driving to a friend’s house after drinking at a bar, police said. Officers said they saw one opened beer in the front door of Walcott’s car, as well as a number of sealed beer cans and bottles. Walcott was charged with improper lane usage and driving without a front license plate, police said.

Home teepeed

Vandals teepeed a house on the 800 block of 67th Street two times in one evening, police said. They also smeared jelly on the porch and threw an egg at the house.

Friday, April 8

Home burglary

Burglars forcibly broke into a home on the 6700 block of Charleston between 6:15 and 9:50 p.m. while the owners were at church, police said. The burglars ransacked the house and took a number of items. If you have any information regarding this incident, please call Darien Police Department detectives at 630-971-3999.

Park equipment burned

A blue park bench and a green garbage can appear to have been set on fire at Darien Community Park on Clarendon Hills Road, police said. A lock was also cut off of an electrical box, according to the report. The total damage is estimated to be $345. 

Thursday, April 7

Stolen basketball net

A portable basketball net was stolen from the driveway of a home on the 800 block of Comstock between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., police said. The basketball net was worth $100. 

Wednesday, April 6

DUI on Interstate 55

Jeffrey P. Stewart, 28, of the 100 block of Vernon Dr. in Bolingbrook, was arrested on Interstate 55 near Cass Avenue around 1:30 a.m., police said. Officers said they found Stewart parked on I-55 after responding to a call from the Illinois State Police, according to the report. Stewart had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit, slurred his speech, walked with a stagger and showed other signs of drunkenness, police said. Police charged him with two counts of driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper parking.

Vandals strike swim club

Doors and a mailbox at the Darien Swim and Racquet Club were vandalized between 11 a.m. April 5 and 11:45 a.m. April 6, police said. The vandalism didn’t cause any monetary loss.

Car burglary

An iPhone was stolen out of a car parked at Lace School, police said. It didn’t appear the burglar forcibly entered the car but it isn’t known whether the car was locked or not, according to the report. The estimated loss is $900.

April 5

Fuel, parts stolen from trucks

Two people reported that thieves siphoned gas from trucks parked at Transit Express Trucking on South Frontage Road overnight between April 4 and 5, police said. Several parts were also missing from the trucks, leading to a total loss of about $1,600, according to the report. 

A third person said that three batteries, gas, the driver’s side mirror and passenger side vent were taken from his truck at the same lot, police said. He lost about $300 worth of fuel and $680 in parts, according to the report.

April 4

Cannabis possession

Three people were arrested on the 8300 block of Woodland around 7:55 p.m., police said. Julian D. Peterson, 20, of the 0 block of Woodsorrel Place in Woodridge, Aimee K. Feigl, 20, of the 0 block of Kildeer Court in Woodridge, and a 15-year-old boy from Darien were charged with possession of cannabis after someone called the police to report people smoking marijuana in a parking lot, the report said. Officers reported that the three were smoking marijuana when the squad car arrived at the lot.

Home burglary

A woman returned to her home on the 7600 block of Warwick around 8 p.m. to find a back window broken out and a bedroom ransacked, police said. Nothing seemed to be missing, according to the report.

Graffiti on business

Vandals painted illegible graffiti on the back of a business on the 7400 block of Cass Avenue, police said. The graffiti has been removed.
