Sunday, Nov. 27

Car burglary

A wallet, credit cards and cash were taken from a minivan parked overnight in a driveway on the 800 block of 67th Street, said. The burglary was discovered after a passerby reported several credit cards on the ground near Mark DeLay School, according to the report. The victim said the van should have been locked, but it was unlocked when she realized it had been burglarized. The total loss was about $160.

Saturday, Nov. 26

Car burglary

Burglars smashed the front passenger side window of a car parked at the Darien Sportsplex between 2 and 3:15 p.m., stealing a purse and canvas bag, police said. Credit cards, passports and a checkbook were inside the purse, adding up to a total loss of about $400.

Missing purse

A woman lost her purse after she put it on the roof of her car near the intersection of 79th Street and Nantucket around 7 a.m., police said. Inside the purse was $60 and a wallet. 

Thursday, Nov. 24

Lifted cell phone

A woman’s cell phone was stolen after she placed it by the coffee machine at the Circle K convenience store on Lemont Road and walked away around 10:15 a.m., police said.

Broken window at Q Billiards

Vandals shattered a window at the front of Q Billiards with a piece of asphalt, police said. The incident, which happened between 12:45 and 1:45 p.m., caused about $1,350 in damage.

Wednesday, Nov. 23

Bad karma

A 14-inch Stihl concrete saw, a DeWalt concrete breaker and several carpentry tools were taken overnight from the site of a construction project at Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation, police said. The tools were worth about $4,000.

Sunday, Nov. 20

Underage drinking and driving

Vincent R. Bruno, 19, of the 400 block of South Prairie Road in New Lenox, was arrested around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Lemont and 83rd, Darien police said. Officers said they saw Bruno run a red light, speed and weave across a lane line. He smelled strongly of alcohol when he spoke, police said. He told police he had been drinking. His blood alcohol levels were less than .08, according to Breathalyzer test results. He was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, zero tolerance, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control device, the report said. Bruno was processed and released with court dates pending.

Wallet contents stolen

An Illinois driver's license, social security card, picture holder and several credit cards were taken from a zippered compartment inside a wallet at the 75th Street Jewel, police said. The theft happened sometime between 7 a.m. Nov. 18 and 3 p.m. Nov. 20.
