Police: Hit-and-Run Driver Had Blood Alcohol Levels 3 Times Legal Limit
Police say the man hit a car on Cass Avenue before fleeing the scene on Interstate 55.
A Warrenville man whose blood alcohol levels tested three times the legal limit was arrested Wednesday after said he left the scene of an accident on Cass Avenue.
Hernan Paulino-Tenero, 22, of the 200 block of White Oak, struck a car on Cass Avenue before driving onto Interstate 55 at about 6:30 p.m., police said.
He left the interstate about two miles later and pulled into a gas station on Lemont Road, police said.

A witness called police after noticing damage on Paulino-Tenero’s car, police said.
Paulino-Tenero told police he had hit something but didn’t know what, according to the report.

Officers searched the car and found both empty and full beer bottles, police said.
Paulino-Tenero was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, hit and run, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended/revoked drivers license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
Police took Paulino-Tenero to DuPage County Jail where he remains on $10,000 bond, according to jail records.
