Police: Two Men Attempt Home Burglary in Construction Ruse

One man poses as construction worker, while the other goes upstairs in home on Claremont, police say.

Two men attempted to burglarize a home on the 1500 block of Claremont by tricking the homeowners into thinking one of them was a construction worker, the said.

Around 3:30 p.m., a man knocked on the home’s front door and asked the homeowner a question about property lines, according to the report.

The homeowner led the man through his home and out to the back patio, where police said he showed him the property line.

The man then asked if anyone else was home, and the homeowner told him that his wife was also home. Using a two-way radio, the man said something in Spanish to another man, who the homeowner’s wife found walking upstairs.

Nothing was taken and both the men left without incident.

The first subject is described as a bearded Hispanic man in his late 30s, about 5-feet 9-inches tall and 200 pounds, wearing a yellow hard hat and a construction vest. The second subject is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5-7 and 200 pounds, wearing a White Sox hat and a black jacket.
