Prayer Service, Vigil Scheduled for Boy Hit By Car

Friends and family will gather at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a prayer service at , 8404 Cass Ave. in Darien, for a Sunday. 

The boy, who has not been identified by authorities, was crossing Beller Drive with his bike in Darien late Sunday afternoon when he was hit by a car making a right turn onto Lemont Road, said.

He was initially treated for serious injuries at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s trauma center in Downers Grove before being airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. The hospital is not releasing any information about the boy’s condition because he is a minor. 

Fr. Gavin Quinn will lead Tuesday's service in either the parish’s chapel or its main worship hall, depending on the number of people who attend. All faiths are welcome. 

A prayer vigil has also reportedly been scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at , 701 Plainfield Rd. in Downers Grove. In comments on Patch and elsewhere online, people have written that the boy is a Lakeview student, but neither the school nor Center Cass District 66 has confirmed it.
