Seven Car Burglaries Reported from Dec. 19-26

Burglars targeted both locked and unlocked cars, Darien police said.

  • Tools and accessories worth more than $1,500 were stolen from an unlocked van in a parking lot on the 1100 block of Chalet, said. The incident happened overnight on Christmas.
  • Burglars smashed the front passenger window of a car parked at the Darien Sportsplex between 7:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Dec. 22, police said. A wallet worth $60 was taken from the car. 
  • A purse was taken from a car parked outside Xsport Fitness between 8:10 p.m. and 10 p.m. Dec. 22, police said. The purse and its contents were worth about $200. It is not known whether the car was locked.
  • Someone entered, but didn’t take anything from, two unlocked cars parked overnight Dec. 21 on the 8600 block of Highcrest, police said.
  • Two cars were broken into around 3:10 a.m. on Dec. 19 outside a business at 8400 Wilmette, police said. More than $5,000 worth of tools was stolen.
