Storms Knock Out Power to Area Homes

Less than 150 homes were left without power in the Darien and Woodridge area following a strong line of thunderstorms that produced reports of tornadoes across the Chicago suburbs.

Massive thunderstorms that swept across much of northern and central Illinois Sunday knocked out power to homes in the Woodridge and Darien area.

Reports of several tornadoes, including touchdowns, followed storms that also brought damaging winds across the Chicago suburbs.

Sixty-seven houses northwest of Lemont Road and 87th Street are without power, according to ComEd. The cause remains under investigation. Another 34 homes in the Natural Falls Resort Apartments area, off of Janes Avenue, were dark due to a down tree and were expected to have power restored by 8 p.m. Sunday.

ComEd crews were assessing 35 homes left powerless near McCollum Park, according to the company's outage website.
