Two Teens Arrested in Separate Incidents at DarienFest

One was charged with drug possession, while the other was charged with underage consumption of alcohol, police said.

Two teenagers were arrested Saturday at DarienFest: one charged with drug possession, the other charged with underage consumption of alcohol, said.

A 15-year-old boy from Downers Grove accidentally knocked a Darien police officer to the ground while running from another officer who spotted him hiding behind some bushes about 9:34 p.m., police said.

The officers searched him and found a small glass jar filled with marijuana in his backpack, police said.

He was charged with possession of fewer than 30 grams of cannabis and released on the scene to his father, police said.

In the second incident, an officer saw a group of teens passing around an open soda bottle, police said.

A 17-year-old Westmont boy quickly handed the bottle back to the group when he saw the officer, police said.

He admitted to police that he had drunk an unknown kind of alcohol from the bottle, according to the report. 

Police charged the teen with consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of alcohol by a minor and released him to his dad.
