Candidate Questions

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

There is absolutely no better way to contribute to the local community, the state and the country than in helping to shape the system that prepares our children to be contributing members of society.

I also believe at this time there exists a unique opportunity. With the transition to a new executive management in the district I think that there is a window of opportunity in which significant change and improvement can be driven in the district. I am excited about the possibility of being involved in helping this to happen and supporting the efforts of this administration.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

I believe the top priority in our district should be to attract, retain and develop the best teachers in the industry. Without getting this priority right very little else can have a return on investment that is even close.

If your race is contested, what sets you apart from the other candidates?

First of all I would state that we are very fortunate as a district to have such a fine slate of candidates running for the school board.

My breadth of experience. I have been an engineer and mathematician. I have been a successful business leader responsible for managing a P&L, leading and motivating people and planning and driving strategic direction. I am a musician and a lifelong athlete. I have considerable negotiating experience and an ability to see situations from many different perspectives.

Is there any other information pertinent to your campaign that you would like to add?

Prior to making the decision to pursue a professional aviation career I held senior leadership positions in the computer manufacturing industry. I can bring a considerable breadth of strategic experience in many diverse areas to the role of school board member.
