Mayor Weaver Set to Reappoint Senior City Leadership

Police Chief Ernest Brown and Municipal Services Director Dan Gombac are each getting 2 percent raises this year, while City Administrator Bryon Vana's compensation is yet to be determined.

Mayor Kathleen Weaver is scheduled to reappoint three senior city leadership positions at Monday’s City Council meeting. 

The reappointment of City Administrator Bryon Vana, Municipal Services Director Dan Gombac and Police Chief Ernest Brown will take place during the Mayor’s Report section of the agenda.

City Council set the 2013 salaries for Brown and Gombac during this winter’s budget talks, City Administrator Bryon Vana wrote in an email. Each will get a 2 percent raise, taking Brown’s salary to $126,308 from $123,000 and increasing Gombac’s salary to $131,166 from $128,594.

Both Brown and Gombac are also eligible for $1,500 merit bonuses. 

When Brown reaches his one-year anniversary with Darien in November, Vana said he will move to the next step on the city pay scale, which will bring his salary to $131,166. Gombac is already at the top step on the pay scale.

Vana said the council has not yet determined if there will be any changes to his contract, compensation or otherwise. Any changes would be discussed and approved at a separate City Council meeting, most likely in May or June. Vana’s current salary is $144,664.
