Strange Handling of Closed-Door Meeting Recordings by Tri-State Fire: BGA Report

The latest report by the Better Government Association from an ongoing investigation into the Tri-State Fire Protection District outlines some unusual events in recent months.

The Better Government Association is reporting on the bizarre circumstances surrounding the storage of tape recordings from a closed-door meeting for the Tri-State Fire Protection District.

In one November incident, Burr Ridge police were called to investigate a burglary to a safe holding tapes of a board of trustee meeting and other notes at the Darien-based district’s Madison Street station but were unable to find evidence of a crime, according to the BGA report from Dec. 30.

During the police investigation, the district trustee who holds the only key to the safe and had called police, Jill Strenzel, asked officers what should be done if it was found that tapes had been erased “using a magnet,' according to the report.
