Darien Home Sales Triple from Sept. 2012-13

The median sales price dropped sales year over year in Darien.

The 20 single, detached homes sold in Darien during September 2013 represented a 186 percent increase over September 2012, when just seven homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

There were 21 homes sold in Darien during August 2013.

As the number of homes sold increased in Darien, the median home price declined slightly. The median price dropped 2.5 percent to $295,000 from $302,500 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Burr Ridge and Downers Grove also seeing big jumps. Burr Ridge  also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 69 percent. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
