Students at Lakeview and Prairieview Elementary began selling $1 rubber bracelets this week that say "Hunter's Hope." A Downers Grove man who asked to remain anonymous donated the red bands to the schools.

The man, whose son is good friends with Hunter, said he started the project in equal parts to raise money for the boy's family and to give area kids something to rally around.

"The students have done a fantastic job," he said. "It's just really amazing."

While the fundraiser has already been a success, the man said this is just the beginning.

Starting next week, the bands will also be for sale at various sites in Darien and Downers Grove so the general public can purchase them, too.

"The community is going crazy for them, which is just fantastic," he said.

While the locations of bracelet sales have yet to be confirmed, Patch will follow up next week to let readers know where they can purchase the bands.
