Cass Junior High Students to Run for Breast Cancer Research Friday

The annual Fun Run in Darien will raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which promotes breast cancer research and education.

On Friday, will be hosting Mrs. T’s Fun Run, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which promotes breast cancer research and education.  The idea for the Fun Run began 11 years ago.

Jenna Kirwan, a former Cass student, came up with the idea after former math teacher, Louise Tepavchevich, was diagnosed with breast cancer.  That year, more than $2,000 was raised. Tepavchevich has since recovered, and the event has grown tremendously, with the goal this year to raise more than $10,000.

Students say they are eager to participate and raise money because so many are touched by family or friends who are battling cancer.
