Citizens Financial Honors Darien Essay Contest Winners

This year's contest asked kids: "How would you use $1,000 to improve your school?"

The following was submitted by :

Citizens Financial Bank is proud to announce the winner of the Darien Banking Center’s Fourth Annual Essay Contest, “Imagine your school has received a grant for $1,000; How would you use the money to improve your school” for students in the Darien / Downers Grove area.   There were 170 entrants in the contest, from , , , , St. Scholastica and Prairieview Elementary School.  First Place winners received a $100 American Express Gift Cheque.

Carmina Ballesteros from Our Lady of Peace School

The second place winners, Anton Lessmeister from Our Lady of Peace, 5th Grade, and Melissa Chacko from Our Lady of Peace, 6th – 8th Grade, were awarded a $50 American Express Gift Cheque.  Third place winner, Aakash Srinivasulu, from St. Scholastica School, 5th Grade, received a $24 American Express Gift Cheque.

Corrine Ganiec, Darien Banking Center Manager said, “Citizens has been an active member of the Darien/Downers Grove communities.”  She adds, “Our yearly Essay Contest is just one example of our commitment to the schools and students in Darien and Downers Grove. We felt that every one of the essays we read was worthy of praise.”

William Jochum, Vice President and Regional Sales Manager, said, “All of our Banking Centers are encouraged to actively participate and support community activities.”  He continued, “Citizens strongly believes that the best way to serve the needs of the communities where we have Banking Centers is to have our staff contribute their support and time to those educational and business organizations that have common goals. That exemplifies what we mean by Personal, personal and Personal, business banking.
