Darien Rotary Welcomes New Member, Awards Grant

The club initiated Darien City Clerk JoAnne Ragona Tuesday. It also announced a $500 grant to The Links Project at Hinsdale Central High School.

The following was submitted by the Darien Rotary Club:

On Tuesday, March 6, the Darien Rotary Club welcomed JoAnne Ragona, Darien City Clerk, as the club’s newest member. JoAnne, a long-time resident of Darien, was installed at the club’s weekly meeting by Rotary Assistant District Governor Ron Broida. Assisting Ron with the installation was club President Rob Ferrigan and JoAnne’s sponsor in Rotary, Darien city councilman Halil Avci.

The Darien club also announced at that meeting a $500 grant to The Links Project, a student organization at Hinsdale Central High School. This program, working with the DuPage County Peer Jury, provides resources and mentoring to students in Downer Grove Township who have committed misdemeanor crimes and are sent to them by Peer Jury. Students are only eligible if they are first-time, nonviolent offenders who admit their guilt. In addition, Darien Rotarian Eric Martzolf, Assistant Principal at Hinsdale South, will be in contact with The Links Project to see if a chapter can be started at Hinsdale South.
