Darien's Claudia Manley Replaces Victor Casini as D86 Board President

The first-term board member moved into the role Monday night after Victor Casini resigned from the position.

Claudia Manley became president of the District 86 Board of Education after Victor Casini stepped down from the position Monday night due to the intense workload.

Manley, who is serving her first term on the District 86 board after being elected in May, hopes to keep board members working together, as she said Casini did in his two months as president.

Board members are all "in sync," according to the new president.

"Maybe it seems like it's sputtering along but it’s really not," Manley said.

Though she's new to the District 86 board, Manley served on the District 61 school board from 2009-13. The Darien resident was elected vice president by the District 86 board during the reorganizational meeting in May.

Casini only resigned his role as president. He will continue to serve as a board member.
