EJH Wrestlers Take 4th in State, Honored by Mayor

The Eisenhower Junior High Wrestling Team took its fourth-consecutive top four title at the state championship meet.

For the fourth year in a row, the Wrestling Team placed within the top four teams at the state tournament.

Mayor Kathleen Weaver and the rest of the honored the team by proclaiming April 20, 2012, Eisenhower Junior High Wrestling Team Day.

Individual accomplishments include:

  • Ramarro Lamar: state champ, 145-pound division; single-season school record with 36 pins
  • Victor Porten: second place, 275-pound division
  • Ahmir Hooks: third place, 80-pound division; Eisenhower’s first three-time state placer
  • Patrick Wilson: third place, 215-pound division
  • Brendan Caccavale: won two matches in the 65-pound division
  • Ryan Gurski: second place in the IESA Regional and Sectional tournaments
  • Sam Basalone: first place in the IESA Sectional
  • Casey Cole: won one match in his first state appearance 

The team’s coaches are Phil Esposito, Kevin Dunne, Eric Albian and Jamaal Williams.
