Kingswood Academy Hosts Golf Outing

Annual fundraiser will be held Sept.11 from 12:00-7:00 p.m.

Everyone needs a little help from their friends now and again, which is the very reason hosts an annual  — to raise funds for families needing tuition assistance.

The need has become greater in recent years among the 168 students and 88 families enrolled, said Carrie Peters, Kingswood’s advancement director.

“As [more] families struggle with job losses, pay cuts and increases in prices,” Peters said, “we all work together to ensure that those who want to attend school here can.”

“Businesses have generously donated,” Gilbert said. “It’s gratifying to know that people from outside the school family know the school’s name and reputation.”

“The support of the community is priceless,” echoed Peters, who noted that the strong connection and commitment Kingswood families share has ensured the success of various fundraisers each year.

The cost for golfers is $125 for 18 holes of golf, with cart, lunch, dinner and open bar. A dinner-only option is offered at 5:30 p.m. in the club house for $50, which includes dinner and drinks.

A raffle drawing for a Kindle or LCD HDTV donated by Prairie Technology Solutions Group in Woodridge will occur during the dinner portion of the evening.

Hole sponsors include Riverside Graphics, Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Foley Consulting, Ashton Place, Northridge Prep, Hanlon Construction, Jan Electric, Chapman & Cutler, Community Bank of Willowbrook, Heart Care Centers of Illinois, Illinois Retina Associates, Wayne Hummer Investments, Don’s Auto Interiors, Realty Executives Elite and ClearStaff.

Gilbert, who hopes his team finishes at or under par, explained some of the reasons that motivate him to volunteer his time along with the many other Kingswood parents.

“A Kingswood education has meant a great deal to my family,” said Gilbert, whose four children have attended over a span of 15 years. “The teachers, staff, other parents and children have been terrific role models, and the education top-notch.”

And, after all, said Gilbert, giving back to the school is a way to pay forward the efforts from all the hard work done previously by Kingswood parents.
