PHOTOS: Lace Students Become Gym Class 'Survivors'

Taking a cue from the reality show, the kids get a lesson in team building.

The reality show Survivor's tagline may be "Outwit, Outlast, Outplay," but the students at took a different lesson from the show last week.

PE teacher Cami Nicol led the kids through Survivor-style challenges as part of Lace's yearlong team-building program, part of a new anti-bullying initiative.

Students balanced water bottles on disks tied to strings, clambered over "toxic waste" (really just a piece of paper) and steadied giant hollow cubes on end.

Just as the contestants do on the TV show, the students had to rely on each other to complete the challenges.

"They get ways to communicate with one another in a positive way," Nicol said. "It also helps them develop a sense of self esteem."

It's also a blast for the kids—and Nicol.

"I love Survivor," she said. "And it's just fun watching the students, especially as they work on some of the more difficult challenges."
