Kid Bikers, Veterans Needed for 4th of July Parade

The Darien Lions Club is bringing back its bike-decorating contest, while Darien Girl Scout Troop 1479 seeks a veteran to ride with them in the parade.

Two groups are looking for a little help to make this year’s the best ever.

The themselves invite kids with bikes to participate in a bicycle-decorating contest, a long-held tradition that’s being brought back this year.

Kids who decorate their bikes with the theme “Honoring our Veterans” will get to ride in the parade. The boy and girl with the best bike will each win a trophy.

“If the veteran was a female, that would be very exciting and inspiring for our girls,” troop leader Nina Kuhlman said.
