Hornet Swim/Dive Wins Gold Conference Swim Meet!

The excitement and tension were palpable as the WSC Gold Conference meet got underway today at Hinsdale South High School. The Hinsdale South Hornet Girls team knew the only way to secure the co-conference champ title was a win over Addison Trail/Willowbrook. The first event set the tone for the rest of the meet as the Hornet 200 Medley relay won in an exciting race. Followed by Rachel Hawken winning the 200 freestyle and breaking the Sophomore team record. Cheers of support echoed through the pool as one by one the Hornets were swimming their way to victory. As the 400 Free relay began the Hornets had a lead over Addison Trail/Willowbrook, but true to Hornet Pride the girls overcame a strong show from Downers Grove South to place second behind Addison Trail/Willowbrook. When the final totals came in and the Hornets had sealed a victory, there was a cheer from the crowd and Coach Kuchta was tossed into the pool. Placing first were the 200 Medley relay, Rachel Hawken 200 Free and 100 Backstroke. Placing second were Brianna Kirin 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, Claire Onchuck 50 Free and 100 Free, Victoria Frank 500 Free, 200 Free relay, Mika Deshmukh 100 Breaststroke, and the 400 Free relay. Placing third were Mika Deshmukh 200 IM, Kiana Shin 100 Free, Victoria Frank 100 Backstroke, and Mili Gvozdjan 100 Breaststroke. Placing fourth was Kiana Shin 50 Free. Placing fifth were Kelsey Barry 500 Free and Chloe Belczak 100 Butterfly. Placing sixth was Kelsey Barry 500 Free. Everyone came together to make this a very successful meet!
