Cass Junior High School's Top Recycler

Cass Junior High School, in Darien, IL, participates in the Dream Machine Recycle Rally, which is a nationwide recycling contest.  Last school year, Cass won a $1000 prize to be spent towards “green improvements” for the school, along with over 150,000 recycling points which can be redeemed for school supplies.  The students collected over 107,000 plastic bottles and aluminum cans last year.

The school could not have accomplished this without its recycling leader, 8th grader, Brian Baumbach.  This year, Brian has already brought in 63.4 pounds of aluminum and 149 pounds of plastic.  That is equivalent to 1,902 aluminum cans and 2,387 plastic bottles.

If you would like more information on how you can help Cass, please email Susan Paszkowski at: spaszkowski@cassd63.org.
