Indulge Your Kid (Or Inner Kid) at Chicago's Toy and Game Fair

3 Things To Do in Chicago: The largest toy fair in America, the Chicago Food Film Festival and food art at the Art Institute.

This weekend is the 10th annual Chicago Toy & Game (ChiTAG) Fair. It’s the largest such fair in the country that’s open to public, so come and take advantage of the hundreds of toys and games on display for your kids (and let’s face it, you, too) to play with the year’s hot new games as well as old favorites, and meet many of the game designers.

It runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Here’s the floor plan and exhibitor list if you want to plan your visit ahead of time.

Watch what you eat, and eat what you watch

The Chicago Food Film Festival runs through the weekend at Kendall College
900 N North Branch St. The fourth annual event screens food films and then treats viewers to the meal and drinks you just watched. Friday night’s theme is “food porn” and Saturday’s is “farm to film to table.” Click here for the full schedule and ticket info. Watch a trailer for one of the featured films above.

Then gaze at some more food

The Art Institute has a new exhibit titled “Art and Appetite: American Painting, Culture, and Cuisine,” examining how food has been used and portrayed in American art. Think Edward Hopper to Andy Warhol. The exhibit explores how artists rendition of food and eating has evolved as the country itself aged and experienced economic and social changes. The exhibit opened last week and runs through Jan. 27. Click here for museum admissions information.
