Construction on 75th Street Will End This Week

Business owners say sales were down between 30 and 50 percent during construction. They're hoping customers will return now that the project is near over.

Construction on 75th Street is slated to end this month after 8 months of lane closures and traffic delays. "We are in completion stage [of the project] doing final striping and clean-up," DuPage County Board Vice Chairman John Curran told Patch. "Three lanes are open in each direction, and traffic is back to normal. It should be done by end of this week."  Why 75th Street?  The main objective of the project was to widen 75th Street from two lanes in each direction to three lanes between Woodward and Lyman Avenues. The construction workers seem to have no respect for cars in the area. They would blow debri all over the cars passing by. Thats why i avoided the area.   more ›

Major 75th St. Construction to Begin by April

Construction is expected to continue through October.

Expect major construction to widen and resurface 75th Street to begin in late March or April, county officials said Wednesday.  The county held an informational open house about the project at Village Greens Golf Course. On display were graphics depicting the changes to be made to 75th Street, including a proposed bike path and sidewalk reconstruction. Motorists can expect temporary lane closures in either direction as the work gets underway, though two lanes should be open in each direction at night and on weekends throughout the project, said Christopher Snyder, county engineer.
