New and expecting mothers found great deals Saturday at Darien's first Baby Bargain Boutique and Maternity Sale. Chris Katsougris, assistant director of the Darien Park District, organized the event, and claimed the idea came from a park district in Ohio that held a similar event. There were 11 vendors present at the sale who paid a small fee, while buyers enjoyed free admission. “There were a really good number of sellers for our first time,” Katsougris said. Some items present at the sale were toys, cribs, strollers, maternity clothes, and clothing for children ages four and younger. Fall was in the air but the holiday season was on the minds of shoppers who attended Darien Park District's "Dickens of a Craft Show" Saturday at the Community Center. Decorations on tables and holiday music provided a festive atmosphere. The second annual event saw a 30 percent increase in the amount of vendors. Event coordinators Chris Katsougris and Cindy Garcia, who began planning in July, said they even had someone asking for a table moments before the doors opened. They were happy to do a little rearranging to accommodate the newcomers. "We just moved a few tables and reorganized a little," Garcia said. "It worked out fine."
