Darien police reports, March 9-11
A Sirius XM radio was stolen sometime between March 8 and March 11 from the dashboard of a car parked on the 7500 block of Country Lane, Darien police said. The radio was worth about $100. Maurice T. Fields, 42, of the 7400 block of Tennessee Drive in Willowbrook, was arrested around 10:40 a.m. at the Cass Avenue Jewel, police said. A store employee saw him take razor cartridges out of the store, according to the report. He got into a car as a passenger and left the scene, police said. Willowbrook police stopped the car at Route 83 and 55th Street in Willowbrook, according to the report. Witnesses identified Fields, police said. Darien police reports, Jan. 25-29
Kristy Marie Dowjotas, 32, of the 400 block of Sword Way in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. on the 6500 block of Cass Avenue, Darien police said. Officers said they saw her driving into oncoming traffic on Cass Avenue. Her breath smelled strongly of alcohol and she had red, glassy eyes, police said. Her blood alcohol levels were more than three times the legal limit, according to a Breathalyzer test. She was charged with DUI – over .08, DUI – physical control and improper lane usage. A mailbox was knocked off its post between 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday on the 7100 block of High Road, police said. The mailbox was worth about $50. Monica E. A Darien man was charged last week with aggravated driving under the influence after backing into his neighbor’s car and leaving a parking lot on the 7500 block of Country Lane in Darien on Nov. 15, police said. It’s the fourth arrest in eight months for Eddie Rivera, 51, of the 7500 block of Country Lane. During the most recent incident, police said Rivera had trouble standing up and had to lean against his car while officers questioned him. He told police he had been drinking but said he didn’t realize he had hit his neighbor’s car, according to the report. Darien police reports, Nov. 12-19
A group of teens set some equipment on fire around 3:10 p.m. at Holly Park, Darien police said. The teens had left by the time officers arrived. The fire caused about $400 in damage. A boy was struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Jimmy John’s parking lot around 1:30 p.m., police said. The boy fell over, scraping his knee and ripping his jeans, according to the report. The woman who hit the boy was driving a tan Ford Taurus, police said. She had dark, shoulder-length hair and was about 50 to 60 years old. Eric L. Jachimiel, 21, of the 00W600 block of 90th Street in Hinsdale, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Pineview Court, police said. A Darien man urinated in the Darien Police Department parking lot early Monday morning after driving himself to the station following a domestic incident, police said. An officer said he smelled alcohol on Robert D. Lucas, 24, of the 900 block of Belair Drive, who was also slurring his speech. The officer saw a splash and a trail of liquid in the parking lot, according to the report. Lucas told police he was drunk and had relieved himself in the lot, the officer said. A Breathalyzer test found Lucas’ blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, police said. Leroy M. Burton, 18, of the 5600 block of Clarendon Hills Road, Clarendon Hills, was charged with retail theft after Walmart security saw him take a can of spray paint and an Xbox adaptor, police said. Security stopped Burton after he left the store with the items, which were valued at $74, police said. Darien police charged him with retail theft on a local ordinance citation. He was released on the scene, according to the report.
Police say the Downers Grove man had been weaving into oncoming traffic.
A Downers Grove man was charged with driving under the influence Aug. 17 after police saw him weaving on Lemont Road, at one point into oncoming traffic, Darien police said. Albert Ariola, 64, of the 700 block of 86th Street, refused to answer questions when officers pulled him over about 12:50 a.m., according to the report. While he first got out of the car, Ariola then went back in and told officers he wouldn’t leave it because he “didn’t want to do anything incriminating,” police said. He also refused a Breathalyzer test. Officers helped him from the vehicle and, in addition to the DUI charge, charged him with improper lane use and driving without insurance. He was given a Sept. 20 court date.

Police say the man hit a car on Cass Avenue before fleeing the scene on Interstate 55.
A Warrenville man whose blood alcohol levels tested three times the legal limit was arrested Wednesday after Darien police said he left the scene of an accident on Cass Avenue. Hernan Paulino-Tenero, 22, of the 200 block of White Oak, struck a car on Cass Avenue before driving onto Interstate 55 at about 6:30 p.m., police said. He left the interstate about two miles later and pulled into a gas station on Lemont Road, police said. A witness called police after noticing damage on Paulino-Tenero’s car, police said. Paulino-Tenero told police he had hit something but didn’t know what, according to the report. Officers searched the car and found both empty and full beer bottles, police said. Police say the man refused medical attention after rolling his car over one-and-a-half times.
A Bolingbrook man rolled his car over one-and-a-half times while fleeing from Darien officers along Lemont Road Friday, police said. James Steinhoff, 22, of the 300 block of Northridge Avenue, drove away when officers tried to pull him over for speeding on the 7600 block of Lemont Road around 12:20 a.m., police said. He drove off the road near Lemont Road and Interstate 55, where his car flipped over, police said. Steinhoff declined medical treatment on the scene, police said. Police said they charged him with violation of bail bond from two previous charges connected with driving on a suspended license. Doris E. Matino, 39, of the 00 block of West 59thStreet in Westmont, was arrested around 1:15 a.m. at Joanie’s Dry Dock on North Frontage Road, police said. According to police, Matino punched another woman in the face because she was “looking at her boyfriend.” Matino was charged with battery and given an Oct. 3 court date. Rogelio Murillo, 35, of the 7900 block Winter Circle in Downers Grove, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. at his home, police said. Police charged Murillo with fleeing and eluding after seeing him speed as high as 71 mph in a 40 mph zone.
