DUI for Underage Driver, Pot Possession: Police Blotter

Darien police reports, Feb. 5-18.

MONDAY, FEB. 18 Alex Santiago, 29, of the 1600 block of Vincennes Street, Crete, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug equipment, police said, after officers came upon Santiago while he was inside a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Plainfield Road at 1:10 a.m. and smelled burnt cannabis. An ensuing search turned up cannabis and drug equipment, police said. Santiago was charged and released to appear in court. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 6 Paul Teresi, 20, of the 7100 block of Richmond Avenue, Darien, was charged with DUI, police said, after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a 1:07 a.m. speeding stop near the intersection of 75th Street and Cass Avenue, and failed an ensuing field sobriety test.  Teresi was charged …

Narcotic Pill Found on Downers Grove South Student

Nicola Lostumbo, 18, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Officials discovered a narcotic pill in the backpack of a Downers Grove South student May 7, according to Downers Grove police.  Nicola Lostumbo, 18, of 507 61st Street in Westmont, was stopped with two other students for leaving campus and coming back, according to police. A search of his bag turned up a baggie with a small white pill inside labeled "alza36."  The pill is a form of ADHD medication also known as "Concerta." It is listed as a narcotic and is highly addictive.  Lostumbo was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and transported to DuPage County Jail, from which he has since been released on bond. The other two kids stopped with Lostumbo said they left campus to go to McDonald's.

Police: Drugs and Drunken Driver Found in Car with Fraud Connection

The driver faces felony DUI charges, while police charged the passenger with drug possession.

A Tennessee man was charged with two felonies April 22 after officers stopped the car he was driving near 75th Street and Lemont Road in connection with a fraud in progress in Woodridge, Darien police said. Robert Anderson, 48, of the 200 block of Burning Tree in Hermitage, TN, faces felony DUI charges, as well as felony charges for driving with a suspended license. Officers said he had glassy, bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils and slurred speech. He admitted to drinking and submitted to chemical tests, according to the report.  Anderson remains in DuPage County Jail on $10,000 bond, according to jail records. Police Blotter: Woman Charged With Having Drug Pipe in Taco Bell Lot

Darien police reports, March 31-April 6

A male juvenile was arrested around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fairview and Judson, Darien police said. Officers said they found him sitting unmoving in a gully. He fled when the officers approached him, according to the report. The officers caught the boy and said they found marijuana on him when they searched him at the police station. He was charged with fleeing the police and cannabis possession.  Michael Wegrzyn, 35, of the 9400 block of Waterfall Glen Boulevard in Darien, was arrested by the Plainfield Policed Department at about 1:55 p.m. at Fraser Road and Route 59 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
