DuPage County voters elected eight newcomers to the county board, along with the the first Democratic forest preserve commissioner in a decade.
DuPage County voters rejected a proposition Tuesday that asked whether elected officials should be able to hold more than one office at a time. With all 748 precincts reporting, unofficial results show that a resounding 90 percent (332,657) of DuPage County voters rejected the proposal. Only 36,571 voted "yes." The question was placed on the general election ballot after Elmhurst Mayor Peter DiCianni and Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso announced their plans to run for DuPage County Board seats in Districts 2 and 3, respectively. Both DiCianni and Grasso were declared winners Tuesday. DiCianni plans to resign his current position to serve the county board. Grasso has said he wants to hold both offices. Forest Preserve District of DuPage County files civil action to recover stolen taxpayer dollars in an alleged scheme of two former employees.
Attorneys for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County filed a civil action in court today seeking to recover all taxpayer dollars possible related to alleged crimes by criminally charged ex-employees as well as an ex-vendor, according to a press release from the forest preserve. The complaint for declaratory judgment was filed in DuPage County Circuit Court as DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin on Wednesday announced charges against former Forest Preserve employees Mark McDonald and Dave Tepper, and Arif Mahmood from the computer vendor company Alamach Technologies, Inc. Free family-friendly event takes place this Saturday at St. James Forest Preserve in Warrenville from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Memorial Day weekend is a perfect time to enjoy the warm weather and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has a great opportunity for locals to do so this Saturday. St. James Forest Preserve in Warrenville will be holding Family Field Day, a celebration of the preserve’s equestrian and agrarian history on May 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free family-friendly event will provide plenty of activities including riding demonstrations held by the Equestrian Fiesta Troupe and Midwest Renegades, along with pony rides for children 12 and under.
