One of the three men arrested and charged with robbing a juvenile near Clarendon Hills late Thursday afternoon—a group that also incuded a Darien man—is a former Downers Grove South basketball star and a 2013 recruit for the Seton Hall University Pirates. Jerron Wilbut, 19, of Willowbrook, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail following their arrests Thursday, according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. Before graduating from Downers Grove South in 2012, Wilbut was a standout shooting guard for the school's basketball team and was a candidate for Mr. Basketball Illinois. A woman kidnapped at knifepoint early Friday had been denied an order of protection against her attacker last month, the Tribune reported Monday.
A Darien man charged with murder and aggravated kidnapping was ordered to be held without bail Monday. Joseph Spitalli, 34, of 7529 Country Lane in Darien, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Teymur Huseynli, of Skokie. Spitalli was also charged with aggravated kidnapping after officials said he kidnapped Huseynli's ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Kristina Baltrimaviciene. A Darien man charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint and murdering her friend will be held without bond in DuPage County Jail. Joseph Spitalli, 34, of the 7500 block of Country Lane in Darien, appeared in court Monday morning and was denied bail. He's charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated kidnapping, a Class X felony. If convicted he faces life in prison with no possibility of parole. A Darien man was charged with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping following the murder, which the State's Attorney's Office said took place on Friday in Darien.
A Darien man has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping after DuPage County officials said he killed one person and then kidnapped a woman at knifepoint Friday. Joseph Spitalli, 34, of 7529 Country Lane in Darien, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Teymur Huseynli. Spitalli was also charged with aggravated kidnapping after officials said he kidnapped Huseynli's girlfriend. Darien police responded at 12:25 a.m. Friday to a battery call on Wildwood Court in Darien, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's press release. Updated 3:10 p.m. Two men tried to lure a 10-year-old boy into their car Friday in the Farmingdale South subdivision in unincorporated DuPage County, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Wednesday. The neighborhood is in an area south of 87th Street and west of Lemont Road. The men approached the boy around 5 p.m. Friday while he was riding his bicycle and offered him candy, as well as a ride, the release said. The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the exact location of the incident. Instead of getting in the car, the boy rode his bicycle home, the release said. It’s typical to see more squad cars on the streets on Halloween as police try to keep the tricks to a minimum. Some of those cars, however, will be on a specific mission. The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office will again coordinate a countywide sweep on Halloween to ensure registered sex offenders are in compliance with rules regarding the holiday. Convicted sex offenders who are on parole, probation, mandatory supervised release or conditional discharge are not allowed to give out candy on Halloween, according to Illinois law. There are about 400 registered sex offenders in DuPage County, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Dawn Domrose said. Of those 400, about 50 aren’t allowed to give out candy.
