1. City council to vote on police chief appointment: The City of Darien released Mayor Kathleen Weaver’s pick for police chief on Friday. Ernest Brown, a 28-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, has been selected as the top candidate. The city council will vote on whether to approve the choice at Monday night’s meeting. 2. ComEd hearing: Residents will get a chance to get some answers from ComEd at Monday night’s city council meeting. A representative will address the power outages that blanketed parts of Darien this summer after severe thunderstorms. 3. 1. Back to School: Part II District 63 joins the rest of Darien’s schools by resuming classes Monday. Just like last week, Patch will be on hand to capture the first-day arrivals. 2. Watch Out for Skeeters The city has warned residents in recent weeks to protect themselves from nuisance mosquitoes that multiply like rabbits in standing water. Throw out trash such as tires and bottles in your yard to eliminate places for mosquitoes to breed. 1. Back to School: Part I School starts Wednesday for students who attend District 61, District 86 and District 99 schools, as well as Kingswood Academy and Our Lady of Peace. District 66 resumes Thursday, while holdout District 63 starts next Monday. 2. Ditch Discussion Continues            The Municipal Services Committee meets again Monday for another round of talks on the criteria for the new drainage ditch rating system that will prioritize repairs in flood-prone areas. 3.
