Ladies Shopping Soiree To Benefit Police Officer's Family Friday

More than 20 vendors will participate in the event at the Carriage Greens Country Club in Darien Friday night, which will benefit the James Borsilli Children's Trust.

More than 20 vendors, selling everything from purses to boots to jewelry will be at the Carriage Greens Country Club on Friday, September 28 for a Ladies Shopping Soiree. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is being hosted by a Darien resident. A raffle will be held during the event, and all proceeds will be donated to the James Borsilli Children's Trust. Sergeant James Borsilli served the community of Darien for 24 years as a patrol officer, evidence technician, detective and sergeant with the Darien Police Department. He battled cancer for about a year before passing away in February. Darien Police Sergeant Dies After Illness

Sgt. James Borsilli was with the Darien Police Department for 24 years.

Sgt. James Borsilli, a 24-year veteran of the Darien Police Department, died Sunday after a year-long battle with cancer, Mayor Kathy Weaver said at Monday’s City Council meeting. He was 48 years old. “He was one of the rare people you could count on no matter what,” said Ward 4 Alderman Joerg Seifert, a close friend. “It didn’t matter what was going on his his life. He would jump at the chance to help you out.” Throughout his illness, Borsilli maintained an incredibly positive attitude, Seifert said. Borsilli is survived by two sons, his mother, sister and brother. A wake is scheduled from 2-9 p.m. Thursday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove.
