March Home Sales: Darien Market Shows Decrease; Median Price Rises Slightly

Darien saw a decrease in the number of homes sold during the month of March. The median home price rose slightly, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

The 7 homes sold in Darien during March 2013 represented a -30 percent decrease over March 2012, when 10 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). While the number of homes sold decreased, the median price of homes sold in March rose slightly in Darien. The median price increased 2.7 percent to $246,000 from $239,500 in March 2012. The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County experienced notable sales gains in March, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Darien Home Sale Prices Down in Jan. '13 Compared to '12

But more homes sold last month compared to 2012. See the latest home sales in Darien and how it compares to December 2012 and to other DuPage County towns.

By Lauren Williamson The seven detached, single-family homes sold in Darien during January represented a 75 percent increase over January 2012, when four homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 18 homes sold in Darien during December. While the number of home sales was up, the median price of homes sold in January was down. The median price fell 17.5 percent to $235,000 from $285,000 in January 2012.  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County saw growth in January, MORe reported. Darien residents do not be discouraged! Statistical information can be somewhat misleading. Let's say for example that two of the lower priced homes hadn't sold ($113,00 and $130,000) and instead, two higher priced homes of above $300,000 did. The median price would be changed to $296,000 and the % change as reported, would have been (+) positive instead of negative, even though the area home …   more ›

Darien Home Sales Up Most in DuPage

Darien saw the largest percent increase of home sales in DuPage County, with 125 percent more homes sold year over year in December.

The 18 detached, single-family homes sold in Darien during December was up big from December 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). It is also up from last month, when 13 homes sold in Darien during November. Darien saw the largest percent increase in DuPage County, with 125 percent more homes sold year over year in December. There were 18 homes sold that month in 2011 and 8 in 2012. Darien Home Sales Stagnant in November

Twenty-one homes were sold in Woodridge during November 2012, up significantly from the same time last year.

The 13 detached, single-family homes sold in Darien during November was the same as in November 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). It is up from last month, though, when 10 homes sold in Darien during October. However, the median price of homes sold in November ($281,500) was up slightly (4.3 percent) from the median price of homes sold in November 2011 ($270,000).  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County saw growth in November, MORe reported. Darien Home Sales Up Slightly

Ten homes were sold in October 2012, up from seven in October 2011. See how that compares to the rest of DuPage County.

Ten homes were sold in Darien last month, up slightly compared to October 2011, but the median price of the homes sold was down 15 percent.  That median price was $237,000, the second-lowest in Patch's DuPage County coverage area, only above Woodridge. But overall home sales increased from seven in October 2011 to 10 last month.  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County saw growth in October, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).
