10/17/2012 Retail Theft - Shoplifting, 2189 75th Street, Wal-Mart 443pm Lietke, Laura M., 27, of 316 Bruce Road in Lockport Lietke was arrested for retail theft after removing several athletic apparel items and walk past the last point of sale, value of the items was $177.82. Lietke was processed and released and was given a court date of 11/20/2012 in Wheaton. 10/17/2012 1140pm Victim related that an unknown person(s) had taken the cell phone left on a table in the 7500 Block of Country Lane. Woodridge Resident Charged With Theft of Hello Kitty Earbuds

Darien Police reports Aug. 24 - Sept. 2.

Darien Police arrested a Woodridge resident on August 24. That's when police say that Jarmesha J. Jackson, 18, of 3300 83rd Street in Woodridge, placed two iPhone cases and Hello Kitty ear buds into her purse and walked out of the store. According to the report, Jackson was confronted by the loss prevention department at the store and was cooperative in returning to the store. Jackson was issued an ordinance citation for the offense, with court dates pending. Total loss was $50.64. Police Blotter information is provided by local law enforcement agencies. 8/14/2012 White, Nathaniel, 36, of 2958 White Thorn Circle in Naperville Charged: DUI, speeding, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor, improper lane usage White was arrested for DUI after passing the officer on I55 at 81mph in a 55mph zone and driving erratically. White was observed to have a strong odor of an alcoholic based beverage coming from his mouth as he spoke and his speech was slurred. A bottle of beer was seen on the floorboard of the drivers side of the vehicle. White admitted to consuming alcohol. White was processed at the Darien Police Department, where he refused to submit to chemical testing. Driving while license is suspended, no tail lights, uninsured Eric Scott, 41, of the 7400 block of Chappel Ave., Chicago, was arrested by Darien police at 2:42 a.m. following a traffic stop at Lemont Road and I-55 and charged with driving while license is suspended, no tail lights and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Scott has a court date pending in Downers Grove. Retail theft - shoplifting Donald Dunning, 22, of the 200 block of Zinnia Drive, Romeoville, was arrested by Darien police at 3:38 p.m. at Walmart, 2189 75th St., and charged with retail theft – shoplifting. Kevin M. McMahon, 36, of the 00W100 block of 91st Street in Willowbrook, was arrested around 2:05 a.m. near the intersection of South Frontage Road and White Deer, police said. Officers said they saw him driving east and swerving between lanes on South Frontage Road. His speed ranged from 40 to 68 mph in a 45-mph zone, police said. While searching McMahon, police found three baggies of marijuana in his pockets, as well as a marijuana pipe in his car’s armrest, according to the report. He also had a silver flask filled with alcohol, police said. McMahon declined to take a Breathalyzer test. Police: Men Smuggle Copper from Home Depot in Rubbermaid Container

The men paid for the container — but not the $1,000 worth of copper inside, police said.

Two men were charged with retail theft after attempting to steal more than $1,000 worth of copper pieces from the 75th Street Home Depot in Darien on Sept. 6, Darien police said.  Security saw Tadd H. Green, 27, of the 3100 block of Whispering Oaks, Woodridge, and Matthew S. Urbana, 24, of the 600 block of Kensington Way, Bolingbrook, take the copper from cardboard boxes and put it in a Rubbermaid container, police said. The men then paid only for the container and left the store before being arrested by Darien police about 10:25 a.m., according to the report.

Kevin J. Heidegger, 19, of 00W000 block of Elm Street in Willowbrook, was arrested around 12:55 a.m., police said. He was stopped for speeding near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55 and charged with speeding and underage consumption of alcohol, according to reports. Police processed and released him with a court date pending in Downers Grove. A brown metal outdoor bench with a leaf design back support and basket weave bottom was taken from the front porch of a residence on 8300 block of Arden around 7:30 a.m., police said. The loss totaled $200. Anthony Allen, 18, of the 00W700 block of Mockingbird Lane in Willowbrook, was arrested around 3 p.m., police said. Police Blotter: DUIs; Underage Possession of Alcohol; Retail Theft

Darien Police Department reports, June 12-18.

Two minors were arrested near the intersection of 75thand Plainfield and charged with illegal possession of alcohol around 9:10 p.m., police said. Michael J. Zuffa, 20, of the 11900 block of South Laramie in Alsip, was pulled over after making an illegal turn, police said. He told police he had alcohol in his car, according to the report. Police said his passenger, Eric J. Bauer, 18, of the 12000 block of South 69thStreet in Palos Heights, had been drinking. Both men were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, according to the report. I am glad to see that the Darien Police are arresting DUI subjects and using Michael's law, named after the young Chicago Police Officer killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver in 2004. The law was passed in 2006 and allowed officersl in Illinois to arrest intoxicated drivers for a felony if they were, Intoxicated, unlicensed and had no insurance. Police Get a Leg Up on Alleged Knee Brace Theft

A Willowbrook was charged with retail theft after police said he wore a knee brace out of the Cass Avenue Walgreens.

A Willowbrook man was charged with retail theft Jan. 19 after police said they saw him remove a knee brace he had worn out of the Cass Avenue Walgreens. Charles A. Moore, 25, of the 10S600 block of Lilac Lane in Willowbrook, was arrested at the store around 6 p.m., according to the report. After the arrest, police said they found two credit cards on Moore that were connected to a car burglary in Chicago Ridge. Police said Moore admitted to breaking into the car, and Darien police transferred him to the Chicago Ridge Police Department. Moore was given a March 1 court date for the retail theft charges, police said.

Out-of-Town Blotter: He Did It, She Did It

Darien man charged with retail theft in Orland Park, police said.

Joseph J. Spitalli, 60, of the 8S000 block of Washington Street in Darien, was charged with retail theft. Mall security told police that Spitalli left a department store around 1 p.m. without paying for a Craftsman lawn trimmer. Spitalli told security his wife had paid for the item, though he couldn’t produce a receipt.
