Darien Patch asks readers, if the presidential election were today, who would get your vote?
It was a triple-play for Mitt Romney's campaign as the former Massachusetts governor won primaries in Wisconsin, Maryland and Washington, DC. With the momentum swinging in his direction, Romney took direct aim at President Obama Wednesday for what he deemed disingenous campaigning. Each week Darien Patch is polling voters on their presidential picks. Once again we ask, if the election were today, who would get your vote?

Darien Patch asks readers who they would pick for president if the election were today.
Voters in DuPage County and Illinois picked Mitt Romney as their desired candidate for president on this November's ballot. At about the half-way point of primary season, Romney has 568 delegates, well ahead second-place Rick Santorum's 273 delegates. But there's still a ways to go before any candidate secures the 1,144 delegates necessary for the Republican nomination. Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich pledged this week to stay in the race despite mounting pressure to withdraw. Each week Darien Patch is polling voters on their presidential picks. Once again we ask, if the election were today, who would get your vote?

On election night we brought you results for local races. Now here's a look at who DuPage County voters picked as their presidential candidate.
Mitt Romney will be the Republican candidate on the presidential ballot this November — if DuPage County voters get their way. The former Massachusetts governor took 54.25 percent of the vote in DuPage County during the March 20 primary, a hefty lead over Rick Santorum, who came in second. Santorum got 28.28 percent of the votes. President Obama — the only candidate on the Democratic primary ballot — got 28,676 votes in DuPage County. All of the above are unofficial results from the DuPage County Election Commission.

This poll will be published each week until the end of the election season. And at the end of the Illinois primary (March 20) and general election (Nov. 8), we hope these numbers will provide insight into how attitudes and ideologies shifted throughout what seems sure to be a cutthroat political atmosphere. The campaign trail turned green on St. Patrick's Day Weekend.
Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul dressed as leprechauns, because nobody believes in leprechauns.

In a race that came down to mere tenths of a percentage point, Mitt Romney edged out Rick Santorum Tuesday in Ohio, a key battleground state. This week, GOP presidential contender Rick Santorum continued to make news with his strong statements — this time, slamming President Barack Obama for “showing weakness” by apologizing after U.S. servicemen burned the Koran, and then by stating that the idea of absolute separation of church and state “makes me want to throw up.” As the Illinois primary approaches, we’re once again asking readers – if the election were today, and you had the entire GOP slate to choose from, who would be your presidential pick? It’s been an interesting week in presidential politics, with Rick Santorum surprising many by defeating supposed frontrunner Mitt Romney bysweeping Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota. But the primary battle continues, and the four GOP candidates — Santorum, Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul — remain in the race. Modern day moms have choices, thanks to the radicals.
If Rick Santorum is to be believed, “the radical feminists succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.” As I sit at my kitchen counter nursing my newborn and attempting to earn a living, I can’t help but think Ricky boy is full of crap. Yep, I’m a stay-at-home mom. I used to rock the suit every day. I worked in the Loop. I owned my own agency. I traveled the world. I climbed the corporate ladder. I hit the glass ceiling. I shattered it by choosing to stay at home with my kids. First of all, I’m not buying the idea that the traditional family is entirely undermined. Nor do I agree with the premise that professional accomplishments can’t make women happy. It…

Ron Paul has my vote. He seems to be the only candidate that truly has America's best interests in mind. People call him a "whackjob" and the media does it's best to block him out, though, both conservatives and liberals. The truth is that he sugarcoats nothing, understands our national problems and the causes of them, and has a solid plan to right the ship. He doesn't stand a chance, though, …   more ›
