A Justice man was indicted on dozens of counts related to last month's accident near Palos Hills. The brother of a Darien man who died said he harbors mixed feeling about the charges.
A Justice man pleaded not guilty to an indictment that now includes 61 counts of aggravated DUI and one count of reckless homicide. Sam Cafi, 28, of the 8300 block of South 79th Street was arrested on the morning of March 10 following a rollover accident at 95th Street and LaGrange Road, near Palos Hills, that killed one man and sent three others to Christ Hospital in critical condition. Cook County Sheriff’s Police said Cafi was speeding down 95th Street when he crashed into a vehicle traveling southbound on LaGrange Road. Ryan Osowski, 28, of the 7500 block of Farmingdale Drive in Darien, was ejected from the car and later died from his injuries. The man was a passenger in a car involved in an early-morning collision Saturday outside Palos Hills.
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Ryan G. Osowski, 28, the Darien man who died Saturday after the car he was riding in crashed around 95th Street and South La Grange Road near Palos Hills. The visitation is scheduled for 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Zarzycki Manor Chapels, 8999 S. Archer Ave. in Willow Springs. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, also at Zarzycki, and will be followed at 10 a.m. with a mass of Christian burial at St. Fabian Church, 8300 Thomas Avenue in Bridgeview. A Justice man was charged with eight counts of felony DUI after a crash left one man dead and three people hospitalized.
Charges have been filed in a car crash that killed a Darien man and injured several others. The crash occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South La Grange Road and 95th Street in a forest preserve area near Palos Hills, police said. Sam Cafi, 28, of the 8300 block of South 79th Street in Justice, was charged with eight counts of felony driving under the influence, including DUI resulting in a death, according to a Cook County Sheriff's Office news release.
