By Joe O'Donnell Three current District 86 board members running for re-election have joined with one would-be newcomer to form a four-candidate slate for this spring's municipal election. Dennis Brennan, Kay Gallo, DeeDee Gorgol and Roseanne Rosenthal all confirmed that they will pool their efforts to run together for the four seats on the District 86 Board of Education up for grabs on the April 9 ballot. Their competition includes the three-candidate "Friends for District 86" slate made up of challengers Victor Casini, Ed Corcoran and Claudia Manley, and Roger Kempa, a candidate who has to this point not joined a slate. Brennan (who lives in Hinsdale), Gallo (Clarendon Hills) and Gorgol (Willowbrook) are all current board members. …

Three of the four current members up for re-election filed their papers to run in April along with three challengers, two of which have names you may recognize.
The Hinsdale South parent who filed a curriculum objection with District 86 over the showing of American Beauty and Brokeback Mountain this fall filed papers Monday to enter this spring's District 86 Board of Education race, according to the district's administration. Victor Casini, who first spoke to the board in September about his opposition to the movies being show in a Hinsdale South film class and later filed a formal objection with Superintendent Nick Wahl, was one of six people who filed to run Monday, the first day candidates could do so. Nominating petitions for the April 9, 2013 school board election in Community High School District 99 are now available, according to district officials. Forms may be picked up in the board secretary's office at the Administrative Service Center, 6301 Springside Ave. in Downers Grove. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nominating petitions may be circulated for signature beginning Sept. 25, 2012. A school board candidate’s petition must be filed in the same office no earlier than 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, and no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24.
