Patch's searchable database allows you to search by cities in Illinois. Information gathered by the Los Angeles Times shows the leaders of the Boy Scouts of America who were expelled between 1947 and 2005 on suspicions or confirmation of sexual abuse. If a troop is listed, a case file exists. At this time, not all case files are available online. As new documents become available, Patch will update this database.

Thank you, NCAA, for reminding us that football does not come first.
Cheers to the NCAA for kneecapping Penn State for covering up the atrocities of Jerry Sandusky. Finally, collegiate football says education comes first. “Football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people,” NCAA President Mark Emmett said. Let’s hope. Too many schools have lost sight of what matters: the education and formation of young people. Yes, athletics is a part of that. However, the almighty dollar has trumped math and science. Football programs in Big Ten universities rake in the dough, directly through the sport, and indirectly through alumni contributions because of the sport. The $60 million NCAA penalty is a hiccup. Football’s popularity breeds school athletic departments that are 32-…

How could Dottie Sandusky not know what was happening under her nose?
She admits the basement wasn't soundproof and she would have heard the boys yell as they were repeatedly raped. A jury just said it believed those victims and convicted Jerry Sandusky of 45 counts of sexual abuse. So where was Dottie Sandusky? I don't believe for one second that she was oblivious to what was going on in her home ... even with her own son. Matt Sandusky told the Today Show Tuesday that he, too, was victimized. She says the fact that she didn't hear the screams means nothing happened. Bull crap. It happened. She knew. As moms, if there were a thunder storm and the TV were blaring, we could still hear our children sneeze. Any parent with half a brain would know if that degree of tragedy were going on in her house for so many …

A Darien man facing charges he carried on a sexual relationship with a teenage girl had his case continued until May.
A Darien man charged with carrying on a sexual relationship with a high school girl appeared in court for a brief hearing Thursday morning. Timothy Hagan, 40, was accompanied by Joliet attorney Dave Carlson. Carlson explained to Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt that he has yet to receive discovery evidence he needs to prepare Hagan's defense. Police are still examining Hagan's computer and are searching for email messages he may have written to the teenage girl he was supposedly involved with sexually in the spring of 2009, a source said. The girl, a 17-year-old at the time of the alleged affair, was a student at Lockport Township High School. Hagan worked for Lockport Township High School District 205 as a network administrator in …

How could the wife not know?
Hang ‘em high. If he is indeed guilty, that’s what I say. And she doesn’t get a pass from me either. When I first read the Shorewood Patch story about the man who was arrested for child pornography, I was ill. It took me three days to uncurl myself the fetal position. The alleged pedophile, Chris Kice, 41, reportedly got busted by his employer. The FBI raided his home on St. Patrick’s Day. After the forensic lab got done with his computer equipment, the FBI and Shorewood police nabbed him Aug. 22. That is when the Patch story broke. Afterwards, the comments started pouring in. Readers are defending the wife saying she didn’t know. At first, I sympathized. I know it is possible for people to be total sickos and hide it from their spouses. …

Defense attorneys need time to review new discovery in sex case against Lockport Township High School District IT staffer Timothy Hagan.
The attorney for a Darien man charged with sexually abusing a Lockport Township High School student has about two months to review new evidence in the case. Timothy Hagan, 39, is due back in court Sept. 14 for a pretrial hearing in the sex case. Joliet attorney Dave Carlson, one of the two lawyers representing Hagan, told Judge Daniel Rozak he recently received new discovery evidence. He asked the judge for the 26-day break before Hagan's next pretrial hearing during a brief court appearance Tuesday morning. Carlson declined to discuss the case after the hearing. Hagan was arrested in May by the Lockport police on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old high school student for about a …

A pair of lawyers guided Lockport Townwship High School District IT worker Timothy Hagan through his brief arraignment on a sex charge.
A Darien man charged with sexually abusing a high school student in 2009 pleaded not guilty during his Monday afternoon arraignment at the Will County courthouse. Timothy Hagan, 39, appeared before Judge Richard Schoenstedt with two attorneys, Dave Carlson of Joliet and Terry Ekl of Lisle. Hagan was working as the network administrator for the Lockport Township High School District when he sexually abused a 17-year-old in 2009, according to a statement released in May by the Lockport Police Department. The statement said Hagan was "in a position of authority" over the teenage student. The details of the authority Hagan supposedly wielded over the teenage girl were not mentioned during his brief arraignment. His attorneys cited the early …
