Kumon Learning Center Opens its Doors in Darien

Anita Sinha said she’s always wanted to help kids excel in school. With the opening of Kumon Learning Center in Darien, she’s doing her part to support students from preschool through high school. Sinha introduced the newly opened franchise of the tutoring chain at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Kumon’s instructors use a strategy that encourages self-sufficient study in math and reading, Sinha said. “Basically we want them to be independent learners,” she said. “We don’t want to spoon feed them all the time." Students younger than 5 years old receive one-on-one lessons, while Sinha said older children work with instructors in small groups.
