Library 'Friends' Come Out for Annual Book Sale

Indian Prairie Friends of the Library hosts its annual book sale this weekend.

Everyone needs friends, even libraries.  The Indian Prairie Public Library in Darien counts among its supporters the Friends of the Library, a nonprofit volunteer group founded in 1986 that provides service hours and fundraising efforts so successful they have raised $150,000 since 1996. The Friends, as the 100 members are called, have helped IPPL fund both the Lyric Opera Lecture and travel series, antique appraisals, licenses to show films and other library materials and programs. They also furnish the incentives earned in the  Summer Reading Club. One of the group's fundraisers is this weekend’s annual Friends of the Library Giant Book Sale held Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at IPPL on the second floor. …
